ParticipantNamo Buddhaya,
I can’t remember the last time I had a craving for any material possession( it has been more than a year), I even tried forcefully to bring this type of craving but I still didn’t crave of any possession. I have also noticed that my sensual cravings have also reduced except for the sexual ones( it too has reduced but not like other sense cravings, for example my taste craving has reduced drastically, almost zero). In regard to the sexual craving, I think my case is same as The Person ( i don’t remember the name) at the time of Buddha who was a Sakadagami but still couldn’t give up drinking alcohol. So should I be assured that I may have attained the Sakadagami stage, I feel it though??

ParticipantThanks Gad, but I have a question, what should be done after following the 8 precepts
The first five of the eight precepts are similar to the five precepts, that is, to refrain from killing living beings, stealing, damaging speech, and to abstain from intoxicating drink or drugs,[2] but the third precept is abstinence of all sexual activity instead of refraining from sexual offenses.[3] The final three precepts are to abstain from eating at the wrong time (after midday); to abstain from entertainment such as dancing, singing, music, watching shows, as well as to abstain from wearing garlands, perfumes, cosmetics, and personal adornments; and to abstain from luxurious seats and beds.
Won’t this induce mental stress as we are not habitual to it? I mean what should be done after that so that the mind doesn’t want to go back to the original lifestyle that was before following the 8 precepts?

ParticipantSo does it mean that an Anagami or Arahant would still be able to recall even sexual pleasure/feeling but still won’t get triggered by it?

ParticipantWhenever we see let’s say chocolate, we can recall/feel it’s taste through the past memory of the chocolate’s flavour, we remember how it tastes, we can feel it on our tongue just by thinking about it.
This is “Defiled Vinnana”, right?1 user thanked author for this post.

ParticipantDoes an Anagami forget how a particular pleasure feels?
For example, the Taste of a vanilla ice cream, normal people recall how it tastes and then start craving for it. But how does an Anagami respond to it? Can he recall the taste but still not attach/want it or will he not be able to recall it’s taste at all?
Does this affect the memory power/recalling power of the Anagami?
I know taste is mind-made feeling but I still want to confirm.

ParticipantWhenever any desire or craving comes in the mind I try to remove it focusing on the stress that comes with it and the relief the mind feels when it’s not there.

ParticipantHello Yash RS. I read your bio and you say you are a 20 year old sotāpanna. You are even aiming for the Anagami stage!! I am very happy to see someone in my age group progressing in magga phala. As you know most people in our group age are not interested in Dhamma. Is it possible to contact me on my email to discuss your experience of the Dhamma? This is my email :[email protected]
Sure Gad🙏

ParticipantI understand all this now, but the video #46050, the girl died with dosa in her mind, which matches the gati of niraya which is in the same kama bhava like the human realm. So why can’t she be born in niraya since the mindset changed to dosa? Or is it that a very high dosa is required for that to happen?

ParticipantThe hell illustration video in this forum #46050
Yash RS
Participant“Yes. The video is not correct in that aspect. Just because she had dosa in her mind at the moment of death of her PHYSICAL BODY does not matter.”
So how do we explain this with the above approach?
Yash RS
Participant“There are several such examples mentioned in the Tipiṭaka. A famous example is about a frog who was attentively listening to a discourse of the Buddha. Of course a frog could not understand what the Buddha was saying. But the “gati sound” (“gati handa” in Sinhala) that came from the Buddha combined with sansaric gati of the frog led the frog to attentively listen to the pleasing sound from the Buddha and to have a pleasant mindset.
While listening to the discourse, the frog was accidentally killed by the walking stick of a person there, and the frog was born in a deva loka instantaneously. “
So how did the frog’s bhava end if it was killed by someone, or was it that his bhava ended that’s why it got killed?
There is one more account when a monkey offered the Buddha some honey and after accepting the food, the monkey was very happy and died because of falling in the excitement and becomes a Deva. So how did the bhava end in both the cases?

ParticipantAlso, having sex before marriage is a bad kamma? If yes then why is it so? Is it a sexual misbehaviour?
Yash RS
ParticipantSo does it mean that if a person has committed many bad kamma, he or she will not end up in the apaya unless the human bhava is exhausted?
Do the bad kammas not exhaust the human bhava?
