Anagami and Jati

      Bhava and Jāti – States of Existence and Births Therein

       Point 6  : (Note that Deva and Brahma bhava each have only one jāti. Once born in the final form with an opapātika birth, they live until the end of bhava. There is no “gandhabba state” as is the case for humans and animals.)

      Point 10. As a Noble Person moves up in magga phala, fewer kamma bhava (i.e., accumulated kammic energy) will be able to contribute to upapatti bhava. There will be no upapatti bhava at the Arahant stage since an Arahant will not have any more upapatti. Even though the kamma bhava for that Arahant will still be there, it will not become a upapatti bhava.

       

      What about the uddhamsota-akanittha-gami ? This type of anagami reborn in all the pure abode, until the last one. In akanittha (the highest pure abode), they becomes arahant. Can we say that they have several Jati in the same Bhava?

      Five types of Non-Returner (anagami)

       

      Non-Returner who, having born in one of the Pure Abodes attains full enlightenment during the first half of the life time there (antara-parinibbayi)

      Non-Returner who, having been born in one of the Pure Abodes attains full enlightenment during the second half of life time there or at the time of death (upahacca-parinibbayi)

      Non-Returner who, having born in one of the Pure Abodes attains full enlightenment with exertion (sasankhara-parinibbayi)

      Non-Returner who, having born in one of the Pure Abodes attains full enlightenment without exertion (asankhara-parinibbayi)

      Non-Returner who, having been born in one of the Pure Abodes gradually moves to the highest Pure Abode of peerless devas (akanittha) and attains full enlightenment there (uddhamsota-akanittha-gami)

      Can you point out the different jati within one bhava?

        One become a anagami and die. He had the mind state of an anagami brahma, since he destroys kāma ragā and Dosā. In the first pure abode he die and reborn in the next, until the last one. He had 5 jati  (There are 5 pures abodes Brahma aviha,atappa, sudassa,sudassi and akanittha),  in the same brahma anagami bhava.

      No. Those are different bhava for an Anagami.

      • For example, a Sotapanna can be reborn as a human or a Deva. Humans and Devas are in different bhava.

      Bhava refers to different existences in the world.

      • The word Buddha comes from “bhava” + “uddha“; here, “bhava” means “existence (in the 31 realms),” and  “uddha” means “removal.” Therefore, Buddha figured out how to stop the rebirth process and thus end future suffering. Every birth ends in old age and death; there are no exceptions.
      • We can also see that “Buddha Dhamma” means “teachings that explain how to stop “bhava” from arising,” i.e., it is “bhava uddha Dhamma.” Here, “Dhamma” means “teaching.” Note that “dhammā” (with lowercase “d” and a long “a”) “to bear things in this world.”
      • Therefore, the words Sotapanna or Anagami cannot be used to describe various existences (bhava) in this world. Instead, they denote the stopping of various bhava: A Sotapanna has stopped rebirths in the apayas, and an Anagami any rebirths in kama loka. An Arahant has stopped the arising of any bhava.
