“Faculties” can mean different things. But here, probably, it refers to the “sense faculties”: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind.
- One must have “sense control” or “control over the sensory faculties to develop wisdom.
- Those who indulge in excessive sensory pleasures do not have “sense control” or “indriya samvara.”
