There is an excellent sermon from Venerable Waharaka Thero where he talks about various subjects!. In this sermon, he explains how a person who has a cold heart is reborn in the nirayas of ice. Suppose a person acts virtuously and wisely. This person acts in this way to lure his victims into a trap with cold blood. This kind of action gives rise to the causes of creating a cold niraya. When I see several stories in the media of people being killed by people they thought were virtuous, it’s not surprising. This kind of killer acts normally, and no one can suspect them of committing this kind of act. See the story of Amarjeet Sada, an 8-year-old serial killer.

      • If I understand correctly, when one commits crimes with extreme anger,, one is reborn in the hot hells like Avīci. When one commits crimes with extreme calm, one is reborn in the cold hell.
      • The distorted Sanna makes us believe that there is a fixed entity suffering at our hands. This perception creates a nirayas corresponding to our illusion. Is this explanation correct?
