If someone’s finds a diamond somewhere lying on the road, he will become very happy.

He would think that his whole life is now set and all of his dreams will be fulfilled.

He would fantasize about how he will be spending his life with so much happiness.

He picks up the diamond and goes to jeweller. The jeweller tells him that it’s not a real gem but a fake one.

That person may get confused and angry and may thrash the jeweller.

He goes to another jeweller and the same thing.

He then realises that what he is holding is nothing but waste.

He would easily throw that “gem” , he has realised that it’s worthless.

A thief sees the “gem” and snatches it from that person.

Now that person won’t generate any fear, any anger, any guilt , any stress, etc. He would not feel a trace of suffering

He would only feel compassion for that thief that what a fool he is.

If one realises the Dhamma, one has seen that there is no real wealth in Sansara. That true gem is the pure mind.

So if someone tries to steal something from this person, this person won’t suffer mentally at all, but would only feel compassion.

He won’t get angry as he knows that the other person is an ignorant being who needs help.

This is how compassion arises out of  wisdom about the true nature of the Sansara
