ParticipantI just recently read about the post on Hinduism’s origins from a post by Lal: “Vedās Originated With Buddha Kassapa’s Teachings.”
I highly agree with the above post which might be highly controversial to some-both by Buddhists and Hindus alike. However there is nothing to fret about, as it has high merit if you deeply look into Hinduism’s origins! I too believe FIRMLY that almost ANYTHING of value or information that is correct and BACKED by science -which is found in Hinduism-has it’s origins DEFINITELY in Buddhism-so when Lal said a lot of Hindu concepts are Buddha Kassapa in origin-I could not be more ecstatic! Because of how much I agree with it! It is true! Lal is correct!
By correct science backed information, I mean things like the following:
1. Pranayama or meditative and scientific relaxing breathing techniques( could have been a tactic used by Buddha Kassapa’s as a way to reduce a disciple’s anxiety as a prescription to reduce obstacles in his or her path).
2. Anariya meditation-once again to reduce anxiety as it does have scientific benefits as it relaxes one and could help with mental disorders like ocd, anxiety, and depression. Buddha Kassapa’s origins again could have done for future people like in our current time not for his period because humans seemed to not have these disorders back in his time period like humans do these days.
3. The four Yugas or four ages-which I’ll make a future post about pointing out more synchronicities between Hinduism and Buddhism-just from the sheer fact that Hinduism is Buddhist origins-that’s all-nothing less nothing more- Hinduism just got lost -decayed through the ages maybe due to the current degenerate age we are in now(known in Hinduism thus Buddhism too now logically- as Kali Yuga or the Iron Age- a morally degenerate age where morality and spiritually is at its lowest-that is WHY the humans from this Kali Yuga are so difficult and SLOW to turn into Ariyas-they are more immoral(and thus their mind filled with more defilements and unable to get insight faster and easier than more moral human beings from Satya Yuga or the Golden Age-when human beings were the most moral and spiritual) than humans from Satya Yuga or golden age the era when humanity is easiest to turn into Ariyas like instantaneous Arahantship-theoretically speaking from my educated guess not from evidence of the Tipitaka.
One scientific backed proof I’ll give about the four Yugas is the fact that our current human lifespan is a mere 100 years! It is said in Hinduism that in the worst human moral degenerate age-Kali Yuga or Iron Age-human lifespan is coincidentally 100 years!—-> That is stark contrast to the lifespan from the other yugas. Satya Yuga or Golden Age lifespan is 100,000 years. Silver Yuga or age is 10,000. Bronze Yuga age is 1000 years. Kali Yuga is 100 years!!!—-> Proof that we are in the Kali Yuga. Because the current human lifespan is 100 years- no coincidence. More proof that we are currently in the Kali Yuga Iron Age is that it is said Kali Yuga is the most degenerate age- things like the following:
- We are talking about things like aging, disease, war, famine, government corruption-corrupt kings-corrupt leaders-corrupt are those in high places , lawyers, suing eachother, slavery, polygamy, pornography, pedophillia, serial killers, family killing family, abhorrent and scary horrific rituals, false religions, human sacrifice, religions other than the Dhamma aka Buddhism emerging(like Christianity/Islam/Shintoism/Jainism), the Dhamma aka Buddhism aka to decaying aka Hinduism- thus causing humanity to go even farther away from the Dhamma and farther from ending their suffering( consider yourself fortunate if you have found the Dhamma aka Buddhism in this age of horror that is Kali Yuga or the age of immorality decay decline and degeneracy and great suffering.)

ParticipantI think you made good observations. One of the issues I’ve had with the Hindu idea of “kali yuga” (and “satya yuga”) is how they try to tie it with a creator God (but fail to do so). Why would a supposedly benevolent cosmic order make it so difficult to escape lower births, especially when most animals don’t have the cognitive ability to accumulate good kamma?
Most Hindus think that they will be sent into a favorable birth (like heaven) because they followed the precepts, worships and generally lived a moral life, but others will be taken away by deity Yamraj. But if the Yugas represent moral and spiritual decay or purity, how does that apply to the countless animals that vastly outnumber humans? Like Abrahamic religions, it is ignorant of the suffering experienced by non-human species.
Furthermore, when viewed as a divine order, I also don’t understand the suffering of babies and toddlers who barely know anything about the world. If the individual doesn’t remember their past deeds, then the suffering feels arbitrary rather than meaningful. Punishment or reward only makes sense if the person experiencing it understands why it’s happening. Otherwise, it just seems like cosmic cruelty rather than justice (which very likely seems to be the case anyway).
This is another aspect that makes me think that Buddha Kassapa’s teachings were in fact distorted overtime and turned into a ritual bound religion.
