I came across a piece of news that instantly got me thinking about the Dhamma. Even with a colossal fortune, an average human judges that it is not enough and engages in immorality to maintain it. It is ignorance of the nature of this world that can lead to such actions. This family does not know that they have accumulated a debt to these workers and it will have to be paid in future lives. Even if human justice proves them right, they may be reborn as Petas (hungry ghosts) because of their greed. Some apaya beings are treated better than humans. The dog of this family was better fed and had better care than the servants. This is yet another example of the complexity of Kamma. Perhaps in a past life, the dog was a man who indulged in sexual misconduct but did Dana.
