      Dear Dhamma friends,

I’m quite new to bhāvanā and still finding my way. I’m not yet sure how to “do” it properly, so what I’ve been doing is reflecting on anicca, dukkha, and anatta in my daily life — like in situations where expectation, identity, or craving arise. That’s where I feel some clarity.

But when I try to formally meditate, I often struggle:

      • My thoughts easily get jammed or scattered.
      • Sometimes I see a stream of random images — some I’ve never even seen before.
      • Or I just feel very sleepy or dull quickly.

If anyone has suggestions on how to start, or what might help me slowly build clarity and stability in bhāvanā, I would be truly grateful.

Thank you so much for holding this space.
      Teruwan Saranai 🙏

It’s like learning to ride a bike by yourself; first, pre-Sotapanna bhavana is listening to the teachings until you have access to Nibbana and see “the way”. Once Nibbana is seen and understood, you bring that experience and understanding until all hate, greed, and lust disappear gradually
