This is a question from someone who is studying Pure Dhamma with me. Are apo, tejo, vayo, and pathavi completely filled within akasa dhatu without any gaps?

Pathavi, apo, tejo, and vayo do not arise by themselves.

      • It is always a suddhāṭṭhaka that is created by javana citta.
      • A suddhāṭṭhaka has eight components: Pathavi, apo, tejo, vayo and vanna, gandha, rasa, oja.
      • But the composition changes according to the gati of the mind that is generating javana citta.

For example, a rock is made of suddhāṭṭhaka with pathavi as the major constituent. On the other hand, water is made of suddhāṭṭhaka with apo as the principal constituent.

May I ask whether the suddhatthaka completely fills the akasa? This seemed somewhat nonsensical to me, but I found it difficult to answer.

No. Akasa dhatu is in between things made of suddhatthaka

      • Akasa = space. All material things are in space. Akasa is infinite.

I thought the materials presented from a previous discussion linked below could be applicable for this current topic / subject.

Viññāṇaṃ anidassanaṃ can also refers to Nibbana?
