Dear Lal and dear members of the Puredhamma community,

It’s been a while since I was active in the forum. However, I have met and talked to some of you and, I haven’t abandoned the path of Dhamma. It is more the opposite. One and a half years ago, I joined the Jethavanarama Buddhist Monastery as an Anagarika, and in August this year, I got ordained as the first foreigner here. As I was relatively busy, I didn’t have the chance to follow the forum anymore but I always remembered many of you.

TripleGemStudent, Laydhammafollower, Jorg and many others have also been here, in the meantime, and so I got to know some of you more closer. I think you are all very special people, very fortunate and virtuous, otherwise you would not have found this Dhamma and found an interest in it or even be willing to practice it.

On the occasion of my ordination in August, I made a small video, intended to express my gratitude towards Lal and you all – the things I learned from you and the things you have shared with me. For roughly 3 years I was reading this webpage (and still do), and it has changed me totally. From a very materialistic and average scientific-minded Westerner to someone who started to believe in the bigger picture of the Buddha. Now, I dedicated my life fully to this noble purpose, as I guess you all did, too, to the extent that you can.

Lal has opened up the Dhamma to the English speaking world, which is a great achievement, a great result of his hard work and dedication. We can all be eternally grateful for this. He was one of the greatest teachers I have had in this life, although I never met him.

Thanks also to all of you, for supporting each other from far away, discussing and resolving for this most noble of aims, for rendering a tremendous service to our world, our societies and cultures and let us hope that we can make a little but profound impact on it. This world needs it more than ever, I think.

If you ever wish to visit our monastery, I will most certainly take some time to talk with you and show you around.

Lastly, I wish that may all your hard work, your kind and compassionate thoughts help many others and, may through the merits we acquire day in and out, we be able to attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana in this very life itself.

      Theruwan Saranai.

      Hello Venerable Daniel,

Thank you for your inspiring message! I am travelling to my home country Nepal later this year and plan to visit Sri Lanka in January. I would love to meet you in the Jethavanarama Buddhist Monastery.

      Regards
